Introduction
Dr Neerav Goyal has been in his Liver Transplant / HPB program since 2002. Dr Goyal is a graduate of KG Institute of Medical Sciences, Banagalore. He trained in General Surgery at St Stephens Hospital under the mentorship of Dr Prakash Khanduri. Subsequently he was Senior Resident in Surgical Gastroenterology at GB Pant Hospital , New Delhi before joining the DNB Superspecialty training program in GI Surgery & Liver Transplant at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital ( SGRH ) where he trained under Prof Samiran Nundy.
After completing his training Dr Goyal worked as Consultant at St Stephens Hospital for a short period before joining Liver Transplant / HPB program at Indraprastha
Apollo Hospital, Delhi in 2007.
Since then Dr Neerav Goyal has been a key member of this program. As Senior Surgical Consultant, Dr Goyal is part of all operations performed at CLBS. He has a special interest in donor surgery in LDLT (Living Donor Liver Transplant ) and has partnered Indraprastha Apollo Hospital in introducing many innovations in Donor Liver Surgery that make the operation safe for the donor.
Besides Liver Transplantation, Dr Goyal continues to perform GI Surgeries with special interest in Liver Resections for Cholangiocarcinoma and Pancreatic tumours.He is also involved in the teaching program of DNB GI Surgery trainees at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, Delhi.
Dr Goyal has a number of publications in the field of Liver Transplantation / G I Surgery and numerous presentations at national and international conferences.
Work Experience
- February 2002 – August 2002 Registrar, Surgical Gastroenterology, G.B. Pant Hospital, Delhi. This is one of the finest specialty teaching hospitals in India. The institution is especially known for excellence in biliary tract surgery including choledochal cyst, bile duct injuries and gall bladder malignancies.
- August 2002 – July 2005 Selected for the prestigious 3-year postdoctoral training program in Surgical Gastroenterology at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi under Prof. S. Nundy. This program is affiliated to the National Medical Board of India.
- I have undergone training at a high volume center known for excellence in the field of Hepatobiliary, Pancreatic surgery and Liver Transplant in India.
- April-2005 I did training in the Department of Surgical Gastroenterology at the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi under the able guidance of Prof T.K. Chattopadhyay. This centre is known for its excellence in all aspects of Surgical Gastroenterology and specially Portal Hypertension Surgery.
- December 2005 – May 2006 I was part of the prestigious Max Health Care family as a consultant G.I. Surgeon at Max Hospital, Pitampura. This is a tertiary care hospital with its branches in all corners of Delhi.
- June 2006 – to August 2007 I worked as a Consultant in Hepato Biliary Pancreatic and Liver Transplant Surgery Unit at St Stephens Hospital, Tis Hazari, New Delhi, with professor Prakash Khanduri as Head. I independently performed all aspects of Gastrointestinal ,Hepato Biliary and Pancreatic surgery both Laparoscopic as well as Open. Our unit actively pursued Cadaveric Organ Transplant programme and were involved in promoting cadaveric organ donation as such.
- August 2007 – to date I am working as a Senior Consultant in the Department of Liver Transplant and Surgical Gastroenterology at Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, Delhi with Dr Subash Gupta. I have been performing all complex hepatobiliary, pancreatic and gastrointestinal surgeries. We at Apollo have been doing 6– 8 Liver Transplants every week with results compared to the best centres in the world. Presently we have done over 1800 Liver Transplants.
