Introduction
Dr. Atul T Ursekar is an experienced Ophthalmologist based in Mumbai. He set up his private practice in October 1991 and can currently be consulted at Ursekar Laser and Microsurgery Eye Clinic, located at Charni Road. In addition, he is attached to Jaslok Hospital and Masina Hospital.
Dr. Ursekar's qualifications include an MBBS and an MS in Ophthalmology. He also has the DOMS and DNB (Ophthalmology) titles to his credit. In addition he has completed two fellowships (Vitreo-Retina and Retina) at Sankara Nethralaya in Chennai and at Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital in New York. After his MBBS, Dr. Ursekar was resident at the KEM Hospital from February 1986 to January 1990, during which period he received his postgraduate qualifications and also cleared the FCPS (Ophthalmology) exam of the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Mumbai. An outstanding student, Dr. Ursekar regularly picked up awards, distinctions and prizes for his academic excellence.
Dr. Atul Ursekar is a member of several medical associations. He has been involved in research and the writing of a number of papers and articles, which have been published in various medical journals over the years. He has also made numerous presentations and has delivered lectures at various symposia and conferences relating to Ophthalmology across the country, including a wide range of lectures at meetings of the Bombay Ophthalmologists Association.
RESEARCH
Participated in Research Studies on Age-related macular degeneration. Under guidance of Dr. LA Yannuzzi, Director of Retina Services and Associate Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology, Columbia University Medical Centee, New York. Luesther T Metrz Retinal Research Centre, Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital, New York.
Research study on Ambulatory surgery in Ophthalmology. Medical Research Foundation, Madras. Results published in "Nethralaya Insight" journal.
Worked on: Comparison on the various types of Intraocular lens. As thesis topic for MS Ophthalmology. Under guidance of Dr. RP Jehangir, Professor of Ophthalmology, Seth GS Medical College and KEM Hospital, Mumbai.
Worked on: Study of ECCE with posterior chamber lens implantation – study of 64 cases. As thesis topic for FCPS (Ophthalmology). Under guidance of Dr. SD Adrainwala, FRCS Professor of Ophthalmology, Seth GS Medical College and KEM Hospital, Mumbai.
