Dr Pranav Kumar, a senior consultant neurosurgeon, moved to this hospital from the Hinduja Hospital, Bombay in 1996. A product of Benares Hindu University, he has had specialised training in microsurgery at the National Neurosurgical Centre, Beaumont Hospital, Dublin, Ireland. He has over 25 years of experience in neurosurgery.

Surgery for tumours at the base of the skull, deep-seated brain tumours, lesions involving brainstem and surgical management of cerebrovascular diseases (including aneurysms) are his forte.

He is a pioneer; he has successfully performed several ‘Auditory Brainstem Implant’ - an extremely complex surgery wherein a bionic device is placed in the brainstem to restore hearing in patients who are completely deaf but cannot be helped with a cochlear implant. There are very few hospitals in the world where this surgery is being carried out.
